Dunst, Malick take awards at the Cannes Film Festival

The Cannes film festival is this weekend, with some additional screenings and awards presentation of the festival — two of which went this year to Favorites.

Terrence Malick picked up the Palme d'Or for the tree of life, starring Brad Pitt, Sean Penn and newcomer Jessica Chastain, although it was not at the festival to pick up his trophy in person. (Its producers accept on his behalf.) Malick had previously won the 1979 festival Director for days of heaven — the film that was a major inspiration on Rodarte collection of autumn ' 11.

Speaking of Rodarte, one of the staunchest supporters of the label caught the prize of best actress. Kirsten Dunst won for his performance in Lars von Trier melancholy, which was almost removed from the competition, after which the Director has made it impolitic remarks about Nazism. (Von Trier himself has been prevented from attending the awards). Besides being one of the best actresses of the festival, we would add that Dunst was one of his consistently better dressed. She is excited in Saffron Chloé, Rodarte and couture Chanel, as this aspect of spring ' 10 has selected for the closing ceremony.
